The McGIS Technical Committee

The McGIS Technical Committee meets the third Thursday of each month. Focus groups meet on an "as needed" basis.

The McLean County Regional GIS Consortium is constituted through an intergovernmental agreement for countywide GIS development and maintenance, ratified by the governing board of each participating agency. The local governments are equal partners in the GIS and share equally in the costs of maintenance. The GIS is also funded in part by document recording fees collected by the McLean County Recorders office, and by the State of Illinois.

The McLean County Regional Planning Commission is a local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), a neutral coordinating agency for the regional GIS effort in cooperation with 5 local government agencies listed below.

Bloomington (pop. 64,808 2000 census) is a twin City with the Town of Normal (pop. 45,386 2000 census). Intestates 39, 55 and 74 converge on Bloomington-Normal, as well as US Route 51 and State Route 9."

"The Metro McLean County Centralized Communications Center is a cooperative venture voluntarily established by its members, County of McLean and Town of Normal, pursuant to Illinois Statutes for the purpose of providing the means necessary and appropriate for the establishment, operation and maintenance of a joint non-emergency police, fire and other non emergency services communication system for the mutual benefit of the public and members of the venture; supporting an Enhance 9-1-1 emergency telephone system under the jurisdiction of the McLean County Emergency Telephone System Board; and providing the foregoing on a contract basis to other government unity."
